Candlelight Yin Yoga

8-class series, January 15 – March 5.

Tuesday evenings, 7:30-8:30 pm.

Embrace the darker months by diving within.

This series encompasses the yin nature  of winter illuminated by candlelight. The focus is on resting postures that are held for longer periods of time to release restrictive holding patterns. Expect breath work, meditation and juicy holds.

Yang Flow Yoga

8-week pre-registered series, January 12 – March 2

Saturdays, 10:30 – 11:30 am

Movement is medicine. Experience a warming Vinyasa inspired flow to kick-start your weekend and guide you home, into your body. Classes will combine mindful movement with breathing techniques. Designed for all levels.

Introduction to Somatic Yoga 10:30 – 11:45

Additional class at 4:30pm starting January 7.

You will be introduced to fundamental movements that reconnect your brain to your muscles. Through the practice of deep breathing techniques and mindful awareness you will discover areas of your body that are stuck in something called sensory motor amnesia, a chronically tight state in the muscles. You will be gently guided to unlock these patterns and feel a renewed sense of ease and comfort in these muscles. Your mind and body will relax and you will walk out feeling a renewed vitality to take on your life once again!

Mindfulness Meditation, Mondays, 12-1pm

In this class you will be introduced to meditation as a healing practice focusing on the Four Pillars of Mindfulness for Health: – Deep breathing – Body Sensing – Focus and Imagination – Biofeedback measures to track your progress. We will move gently with some micro-yoga to transition comfortably to seated or lying down for guided visualization followed by a short silent meditation. Each week there will be a different topic. You will be given tips on how you can practice mindfulness on your own your life. In the spirit of curiosity and non-judgement, there will be time for discussion at the end if you chose.

A little about Carolyn, from Carolyn…

I have worked closely with experienced Massage Therapists, Personal Trainers, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists, in gym, clinic and spa settings. I have over 17 years experience and have learned many valuable perspectives on how to encourage healing and functionality to return where it has gone out of balance. Since graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver in 2001, I have taken post graduate courses in Systemic Deep Tissue Massage, Muscle Balance and Function, Muscle Energy, Joint Mobilization, Visceral Manipulation, Somatics, Yoga for Massage Therapists, Myofascial Techniques and continue to learn and grow as a Somatic Yoga Instructor by witnessing students find more comfort and mobility in my classes. This class is suitable for all ages and abilities.
