Acupuncture

Find your way to holistic balance.

Acupuncture is a treatment modality which exists within the context of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  In addition to doctors of Chinese medicine, many modern health professionals have adopted acupuncture in their treatment methods, including physicians, naturopaths and physiotherapists.

The body, mind and spirit are connected and cannot be divided, nor can they act exclusively of each other. In addition, the whole body is connected by the 12 meridians and the concept of resonance.  The internal organs are connected to the limbs, the head connected to the feet, the skin connected to the blood.  This foundational philosophy is what makes acupuncture treatment effective.

Philosophers and poets have always seen the reflection of the universe in the human form. TCM holds this philosophy as a core foundation in its medical theory and application.  Because the sky has the stars, humans have eyes. The earth has day and night, humans wake and go to sleep. Nature has spring and fall, humans are young and become old.  And so, we can influence the state of health in a person by choosing to listen and abide by the natural cycles of our environment.

Acupuncture Treatment Techniques

Needles

Ultra-thin, sterile, single use, disposable needles are used during your acupuncture sessions.  Sessions are usually painless, and patients usually describe a dull, achy sensation, or a mild electric sensation.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves burning herbs and applying them to specific points on the body. The heat generated helps increase the flow of vital energy, or ‘chi’. It is used to treat a variety of health issues like arthritis, headaches, back pain, menstrual cramp, digestion and more.

Cupping

Small glass cups are used as suction devices that are placed on the body to disperse and break up stagnation.
